HER AUSTIN ERA
When Addison's mom reached out about senior photos, I was genuinely excited. I’d known Adi for a few years. She has such a deep and emotional heart. An old-soul, wise beyond her years.
From the very first phone call, I could tell she was nervous about the whole thing. Senior photos can feel like a lot of pressure, right? I let her know we’d keep it laid back, stay in line with her natural style. No over-posing, no stiff setups. Just real.
We decided on a studio session at Sol and Sage in Richardson, Texas, the perfect spot for a winter shoot. Everything outside was dead and grey. The studio gave us this incredible, moody indoor light that I didn't know was going to feel so her until we were actually in it.
Her girlfriend came along for the session too, which I think made all the difference. It took maybe fifteen or twenty minutes of warming up, and then it was like we were just hanging out. The camera kind of disappeared. That's always my favorite moment in a shoot — when the subject forgets I'm there.
After the nerves settled, Addison had this natural confidence that photographs, like, she doesn't have to do anything. At such a young age she knows and accepts who she is.
She was accepted into University of Texas Austin, so we made sure to work that in. Such a huge accomplishment deserves to be documented!
I couldn’t be more pleased with how the images came out. The dramatic lighting gave the photos an almost painterly quality that felt so Adi. It captured her quiet depth, the realness.
Adi, you were such a dream to photograph. Congratulations on this next chapter. Austin is lucky to have you!!
