TWO, ALMOST THREE

When my neighbor Mallory told me she was pregnant, I was already thinking about where we were going to shoot.

That's just what happens when one of your people is also one of the most aesthetically gifted humans you know. Mallory has this design eye and sense of style that makes you want to pick up a camera and just follow her around. So when she said yes to South Side Studio in downtown Dallas, a space I had been dying to shoot in, I was so excited.

Before every session I like to take a few minutes to just set the tone. Talk through how the shoot is going to flow, what to expect, how to feel. And when I was doing my speil to Mallory and her husband, Bryce, something kind of came over me. I found myself telling them that this shoot wasn't really about posing or getting the perfect shot. It was about Mallory. About admiring her. About honoring what her body is doing and the miracle it is literally in the middle of creating.

I started to teared up a little. It just got to me, because she's not just a client, she's a friend and one of the sweetest souls I know. And being trusted to capture that season of her life, her outer beauty AND the glowing inner beauty that pregnancy brings out in a woman, got to me.

The photos speak for themselves. South Side Studio delivered exactly the kind of soft, beautiful light I knew it would, and Mallory showed up like she always does, effortlessly stunning and completely herself.
