Snapshot Sessions: When You Don't Need the Whole Story
Not every season of life calls for a full family session.
Sometimes you just need a few updated photos. The kids have grown. Your business has evolved. You're expecting a baby and want to document your pregnancy before your newborn session. You don't need an entire gallery—you just want beautiful, meaningful images that capture where life is right now.
That's exactly why I created my Snapshot Session.
What Is a Snapshot Session?
A Snapshot Session is my shortest photography experience. It's designed for people who want a quick refresh without sacrificing quality or the personalized experience of working together.
These sessions are typically 30–45 minutes and you only choose 10 photos. This is perfect if you don’t want the whole story, you just need the highlight reel.
SNAPSHOT IS Perfect For...
Family Photo Refreshes
Maybe we did a full family session last year, but the kids have changed so much already. You don't necessarily need another two-hour experience—you just want to freeze this season before it slips away.
A Snapshot Session is perfect for capturing those little changes without committing to a full family session.
the camera shy peeps
Traditional mini sessions can be wonderful, but they're not the right fit for every family. And, don’t worry, you’re not alone in this. I choose to be behind the camera and not in front of it for a reason.
If your family takes a little while to feel comfortable in front of the camera, or your kids are naturally shy and need time to warm up, trying to capture genuine smiles in a 10 or 20 minute session can feel stressful instead of fun.
In my experience with mini sessions, the best photos start to happen right around the 15 minute mark. By then, everyone has gotten used to the camera and they are getting in the groove, and then bam! the session is over.
With 30–45 minutes together, there's room to slow down. Your kids can get to know me, explore, play, and ease into the experience without everyone feeling like you're racing against the clock. We don't have to feel rushed or worry that we've "missed our chance" because someone needed a few extra minutes to settle in.
These sessions are also a great fit if you've never or rarely have professional photos taken and your family feels a little awkward in front of the camera. We'll take our time, keep things relaxed, and let authentic moments happen naturally.
The best photographs almost always happen after everyone has stopped thinking about the camera. A Snapshot Session gives us the time to get there.
Maternity Add-On Sessions
Many families book me for newborn photos but also want to document the pregnancy. Instead of booking two full sessions, you can add a Snapshot Session for maternity photos.
It's a simple, beautiful way to tell more of your family's story while keeping things manageable.
Headshots
Need updated headshots? Launching a new business?
Most business owners don't need 60 images of themselves. They just need a handful of strong, authentic photographs that represent their brand well.
A Snapshot Session gives you exactly that.
Can We Shoot in a Studio?
Absolutely.
If you'd like a studio session, I'm happy to book one for us. Studio rentals are typically $75–$85 per hour, which is added to your session fee. Since most studios require a one-hour minimum, we'll have the full hour available even though we'll likely finish shooting sooner.
If you'd rather stay at home or meet outdoors, there are no additional location fees.
What's Included?
Every Snapshot Session includes:
A consultation call where we'll talk through your vision, location, wardrobe, and goals.
A 30–45 minute photography session.
Your choice of location—your home, outdoors, or another meaningful place.
An online proofing gallery with approximately 40 images to review.
Your favorite 10 digital images included in your package.
After you've selected your favorites, I personally go back through each one for a detailed final edit. This isn't just a quick preset.
I'll fine-tune color and lighting, clean up distracting background elements when needed, and take care of small blemishes or distractions so your final images look polished while still feeling natural.
Sooooo….Is a Snapshot Session Right for You?
A Snapshot Session is probably the perfect fit if you:
Want updated family photos without a full session.
Mini sessions feel rushed and stressful instead of relaxed and fun
Need maternity photos before your newborn session.
Want some fresh branding images or headshots.
Have worked with me before and want a quick, easy experience.
Only need a small collection of images instead of a large gallery.
Sometimes you don't need to tell the entire story again.
Sometimes you just need the next chapter.
And that's exactly what a Snapshot Session is for.
